Dance/Movement Therapy Outreach
Move It! Dance/Movement Therapy Outreach Overview Video from KDH Dance on Vimeo.
This program provides life-changing experiences of creativity, self-worth, and relationship-building. Using dance and movement, students experience physical and emotional safety and confidence in their bodies. They develop greater resilience and create community while making meaningful personal connections with peers and adults.
Over the last 18 years we have served:
- Over 10,000 students
- More than 500 at-risk youth
We have most recently partnered with The Settlement Home for Children, a nonprofit foster care organization providing care, support, and resources for individuals with histories of trauma, abuse, and neglect.
Lessons learned in the dance studio are life lessons.
"Who can I trust? Where do I belong? How can I relate and connect to others in a positive ways?"
Our students say:
"I learned that not all adults are out to get me. Some of them really want to help."
"People think you are a certain way because you are a teenager."
"Knowing that not everyone is going to hurt me."
"I can trust the staff in my cottage."
"Move It! taught me I could connect with others and have fun!"
We rely on the support of individual donations to keep our program going. If you are interested in contributing to this program, you can do so here. Please write "Move It" in the special instruction box. Checks can be mailed to:
